Dr. Razi Nalim received his B.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India.  He received his M.S. (1985, Mechanical Engineering) and Ph.D. (1994, Aerospace Engineering) degrees from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.  He has had several years of R&D experience in industry and government, and came to IUPUI from the NASA Lewis Research Center, where he was a Research Associate from 1994 to 1997 with a fellowship from the National Research Council.  He teaches thermal sciences and fluid dynamics, and his research interests are in development of novel wave devices utilizing unsteady flow, and use of CFD in engine combustion and biofluid dynamics. He has received several patents for pulsed detonation propulsion and wave rotor concepts, and has established a pioneering research program in utilizing non-steady flow and combustion processes. Since the 1980’s, he has also worked in engine emissions control research, and consulting for the gas engine industry. He is a member of ASME, AIAA, ASEE, and the Combustion Institute.
