Team 2360 is a spin off of the IUPUI Preparing Outstanding Women for Engineering Roles (POWER) Summer Camp. Women are under-represented in leadership and decision-making positions locally, nationally and globally within science and engineering fields. POWER-Storm 2360 is a team comprised of local high school girls interested in increasing their knowledge of math, science, engineering and technology by designing and building a “life-sized” robot that will participate in an “athletic” competition.
The robotic team isn’t just about building robots. It encourages a talented pool of girls to think creatively, inspires them to develop solutions. They learn to appreciate and respect the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, and professionalism. The girls that make the team are from high schools throughout the Indianapolis and surrounding areas. As a diverse group, they have the opportunity to experience diverse environments, cultures, work ethics and approaches to achieving goals. They must function as a unit with all differences put aside for a common cause.
The FIRST Robotics Competition involves teams of mentors (corporate employees, teachers, or college students) and high school students who collaborate to design and build a robot in six-weeks. This robot is designed to play a game, which is designated by FIRST and changes from year to year. Regional competitions take place around the United States as well as in Canada.
