Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering

Qualified students may be authorized to pursue a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering at IUPUI. Programs leading to the Ph.D. in biomedical engineering are administered with the approval of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette. The course requirements include the following:

6 credit hrs biomedical engineering courses
6 credit hrs quantitative / analytical courses
6 credit hrs life sciences courses
6 credit hrs other engineering
1 credit hr of graduate level ethics
4 credit hrs Critical Literature Analysis (one credit each)
4 semesters of graduate seminar
48 - 61 research credits (variable; depends on number of courses taken; total of 90 credit hours required)

The Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering should be tailored by the student and his/her advisor to the student's individual educational needs.
