Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering

Prerequisites. Typical applicants to the Biomedical Engineering Program have an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline. Outstanding students with degrees in related fields such as physics, chemistry and biology may also be admitted to the program with the expectation that the deficiencies in engineering and/or mathematics will be remedied prior to admission to the program or early in their graduate careers.

30 credit hours of course work is required to earn a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.  The following courses are required for the MSBME degree: 

Thesis option: 

3 credit hrs                   Principles of Biomedical Engineering
3 credit hrs                   Advanced Mathematics or Statistics
12 credit hrs                 Graduate biomedical engineering courses
3-6 credit hrs                Approved life sciences or technical elective
6-9 credit hrs                Thesis  

Non-thesis option:

3 credit hrs                   Principles of Biomedical Engineering
3 credit hrs                   Advanced Mathematics
12 credit hrs                 Graduate biomedical engineering courses
6 credit hrs                   Approved life sciences or technical elective
6 credit hrs                   Approved engineering electives
