Intern: Josh Corken
Major: Computer Graphics Technology
Company: Boost Media Entertainment

“My internship with Boost Media Entertainment started after I went to one of the career fairs on campus. I was looking to intern for a computer graphics company and not just an organization that needed a graphic designer. I really wanted to work for a company where I would be working with others who had a passion for computer graphics, so we could share ideas and give each other constructive feedback. Boost was the perfect fit. My internship quickly threw me into real world projects with deadlines and challenges. I’ve had the opportunity to work with other graphic artists and web developers and see how my work is received. Working with a variety of clients in a fast-paced creative environment has allowed me to have some incredible experiences. Through my internship, I have taken my computer graphic skills to a completely new level. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience to prepare me for projects in school, freelance work and my future. My internship was supposed to end awhile back but it has now transformed into a part-time job, which is great! With IUPUI’s campus so close to downtown, going to school and work at the same time couldn’t be any more convenient. If I were to offer advice to incoming students, I would tell them to join an organization or two or three, network with peers and faculty and get as involved as possible. I’d also tell them to look for an internship early. An internship gives you the opportunity to advance your skill set and learn more about what you really want to do. Plus if you are a computer graphics technology major, work samples from your internship often make great portfolio pieces.”
