Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Graphics Technology
This position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate students; procuring grants for research support and scholarship leading to publications; performing civic engagement in the discipline, community, and profession; and contributing service to the department and university. This position also involves expanding the CGT offering in the interdisciplinary M.S. in Technology. Working with Ph.D. students in other campus departments may be available.
Teaching will involve a reduced teaching load for the first two years with a normal teaching load in subsequent years. This is a 10-month contract, and summer teaching opportunities are available.
• Ph.D. or related doctorate (required) in Computer Graphics Technology, Animation History, Media Studies, Communications, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution
• Documented expertise in the field of Computer Graphics and an ability to translate theories and concepts into practical applications. Experience in the research, history, and/or theory of animation.
• Research agenda that shows evidence of an ability to contribute to the discipline through publications in high quality, peer-reviewed outlets.

Lecturer Positions
Both Lecturer positions require teaching diverse undergraduate students, a 4/4 teaching load, and service to the department and school. Promotion to Senior Lecturer is available. These are not tenure-track positions, but long-term renewable contracts are possible. These are 10-month contracts, and summer teaching opportunities are available.
1. Lecturer of Computer Graphics Technology (3D Production emphasis)
• M.S., M.F.A. or related advanced degree (required) in Computer Graphics Technology, New Media, 3D Visualization, Communications, or another closely-related design discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Documented expertise in the field of 3D production work or a closely-related field, such as visual effects for film, television, and/or gaming. Preferred candidates will maintain close ties with the 3D industry.
• Ability to translate theories and concepts that have an industry-related practical application into the classroom.
• Knowledge of various levels of modeling, texturing, lighting and animation in 3d software is highly desirable. The candidate should be proficient in an array of multimedia software packages and be dedicated to ongoing professional development.
• Ability to teach a variety of subjects in 3D production courses.

2. Lecturer of Computer Graphics Technology (Character Animation emphasis)
• M.S., M.F.A. or related advanced degree (required) in Computer Graphics Technology, New Media, 3D Visualization, Animation, or another closely related design discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Documented expertise in the art of character animation, and mastery of the principles of animation.
• Ability to translate theories and concepts that have a practical application relative to industry into the classroom.
• Proficiency in an array of animation software packages and dedication to ongoing professional development. Preferred candidates will maintain close ties with the animation industry.
• Ability to teach a variety of subjects in 3D animation courses.

DCT has approximately 11 full-time faculty and staff.

PUL 4 - Intellectual Depth, Breadth, and Adaptiveness
Definition: The ability of students to examine and organize disciplinary ways of knowing and to apply them to specific issues and problems.
Intellectual depth, breadth, and adaptiveness are demonstrated by the student’s ability to:
a. Show substantial knowledge and understanding of at least one field of study;
