Computer and Information Technology Awards

The following pages list awards and selection criteria. If you qualify and you wish to be nominated for these awards, please complete the application form and submit it.

If you wish to be nominated, please submit by Wed February 13, 2008. Award winners will be honored at the annual Honors Convocation on April 11, 2008.

Outstanding Underclassman
Special contribution to the CIT program. No less than 20 hours and no more than 65 hours completed in program. Award: up to $300.00

Outstanding Associate Degree
Superior scholastic achievement, special contribution to CIT program. Graduating with A.S. in May or graduated in December or August of the previous year. Award: up to $400.00

Outstanding Upperclassman
Superior scholastic achievement, special contribution to CIT program. Award: up to $300.00

Outstanding Baccalaureate Degree
Superior scholastic achievement, special contribution to CIT program. Graduating with B.S. in May or graduated with B.S. in August or December of the previous year. Award: up to $400.00

Jessie Lennertz Award
At least 25 yrs. old, 66-97 cr. hrs. GPA in upper 10%. Faculty nominates and Ms. Lennertz will interview students and select the recipient. Award: up to $1000.00

Outstanding International Student
English must be second language, attended a high school in which English was not the primary language, completion of 24 cr. hrs, 3.0 GPA. Award: up to $200.00

Nicholas J. Kira Scholarship
Outstanding student in computer and information technology, technical or networking track, sophomore or junior standing, minimum GPA of 3.0. Award: up to $200.00

Brancato Scholarship
Full or part time student enrolled in computer and information technology, single parent, at least a sophomore class standing, financial need, minimum 3.0 GPA. Award: up to $200.00

Charles K. Barker Award
Outstanding minority student in computer and information technology. Award: up to $500.00

John G. Williams, Jr. Memorial Award
Outstanding student in computer and information technology, faculty nomination. Award up to $200.00

ACM Award
M ember of the ACM club for at least one year with demonstrated active leadership in advancing the goals of the ACM Club, minimum 3.0 GPA.

Grace Hopper Programming Award
Full or part time student enrolled in computer and information technology, must have taken 3 or more programming courses and earned A's in each one.

Outstanding CIT Woman
Full or part time female student enrolled in computer and information technology, completion of at least 35 cr. hrs, minimum 3.0 GPA.

IUPUI Awards (for which the department nominates candidates)

Alfred R. Potvin and Janet H. Potvin Outstanding Student Leader and Scholar Award.
Senior (within 30 hours of graduation) with a major in a B.S. degree program in the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI. Completed 45 or more undergraduate semester credit hours at IUPUI at the time the award is given. Officer in one or more student organizations or activities with a strong record of accomplishments, leadership, and collegial relations. IUPUI GPA in top quarter of students in the same degree program, with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Award: up to $500.00

United Parcel Service NSBE Achievement Award.
Minimum GPA of 3.0. Officer or member in one or more student organizations (NSBE included) or activities with a strong record of accomplishments, leadership, and collegial relations. Award: up to $500.00

Outstanding Woman Scholar Award.
Female student enrolled full-time or part-time in the School of Engineering and Technology. Must have completed at least 35 hours in the school toward her degree program (including current semester). Must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better, academic achievement is the primary criterion for selection, previous baccalaureate degree graduates are not eligible. Award: up to $1000.00
