This list of frequently asked questions should answer most questions about the new "Pay for Print" program on the IUPUI campus for CNC managed printers and computer labs.
An overview of the "Pay for Print" program can be found here.

Q: How to set up a printer on my lab computer?
Answer:
Please click here to see how to set up a printer on your lab computer.
Q: Am I charged for blank pages?
Answer: Yes. Always use print preview and check for blank pages that will be print out on the printer. Edit your document so you do not have any blank pages when printing. Be sure to check the last page or two as these are where most blank pages occur.
Q: Do I still pay if the printer jams with my document or the printer fails?
Answer: Please see one of the CNC staff for a reprint of the material you were printing and to get the printer fixed.
Q: Ok, what if I don't have a JagTag?
Answer: Please visit one of the card services offices to get a JagTag card. The main office of Card Services is located in the Union building in room 115 (it’s in the lobby when walking from Reily hospital). They have a satellite office located in room 127 of the University College building. More information can be found at http://www.jagtag.iupui.edu on the JagTag and benefits of using it.
Q: How do I add money to my JagTag so I can print?
Answer: Detailed information can be found at www.jagtag.iupui.edu. An icon is available on the desktop of all lab computers in the ET building to take you there directly.
Q: How am I charged for printouts?
Answer: All printing charges are charged to your JagTag account. You must have your JagTag to use any of the "Pay for Print" locations.
Q: Can I print somewhere else or is it just in the labs?
Answer: Printing is available throughout the campus, and almost all will require you to pay for the documents you print. You can be assured that if you are charged, the process and price will be consistent across the different schools and services.
Q: I pay technology fees, so don't they pay for my printing?
Answer: The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology receives only a percentage of the technology fee that you pay. With the fee, we must keep all the computer labs and licensing current, pay for hardware and software maintenance fees, support personnel resource, and the like. In short, there are many costs to supporting the school's technology. With the rapidly increasing costs for computers, printers, paper, and toner, the "pay for print" fees are expected to only offset some of the fees associate with printing.
Q: Why do I have to pay for printing?
Answer: Earlier this year, "Pay for Print" was discussed and approved at the IUPUI Dean's Council as a uniform system and fee for charging for printing of computer output. The following fees were approved:
$0.08 will be charged per single side page for 11 x 17 black and white in CNC managed printers.
Other formats are not supported at the present. Future support of other formats will be studied and implemented appropriately.
The intent is to encourage users to print only what they need and defray some of the costs of printed output as they increase every year. These costs include the printers themselves, paper, toner, printer maintenance, repairs, etc. If you go to any computer lab, you will find many sheets of unwanted printouts each day. This minimal fee will reduce unwanted and unneeded printouts that currently sit next to the printers.
