Overview of Computing Applications Software and Internet Connectivity
  • Describe the basic types of Applications software
  • Explain the difference between Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Database, Personal Information Management, Shareware, Freeware, and Custom Software
  • Illustrate how computers are connected to the Internet.
  • Introduction to Computer Hardware
  • Identify, schematize, and evaluate the components of a motherboard.
  • Describe how input, output, and storage devices work.
  • Describe how files are stored on disk, what causes fragmentation, and how to maintain an efficient hard drive (storage device.)
Introduction to Computer Operating Systems
  • Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different categories of operating systems.
