Class Structure:
Class time will be composed of lecture and lab time. I will lecture
breifly over the concepts covered in the book plus some extras not covered in the
book. Usually, I will give you the remainder of the class time to work on the
tutorials in your book or on your assignments. How you use this time is up to you. I
will not pick up the tutorials for a grade. However, I may randomly check to see if
you have them completed. Having the tutorials completed will count toward your
participation grade. You are expected to read the tutorials before you come to class
in order to maximize your use of lab time with my assistance.
There will be 3 assignments, 3 quizzes, and a final exam. The final exam will
cover the material from the quizzes plus any material covered between the last quiz and
the final exam. Check the assignments page to find
out more information about the assignments as it becomes available. The grading page has information about points and percentages,
etc. It will also be where I will post the grades.
Attendance and Responsibility:
I will not take attendance. You have paid to take this class; it is your choice to
be present or not. You need to be in class to take the quizzes, but if you can get
your assignments done on time then you don't really need to show up. But remember, it
is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. Don't ask me.
Generally, I do not give makeup quizzes. However, if you know in advance that you
are going to miss class and notify me beforehand, I may make exceptions. All
makeups are at the instructor's discretion.
Cheating:
Cheating of any kind will be grounds for failure. Students are expected to submit
their own work for grading. You are expected to create your own assignments
independent of others except when directed to work in collaboration with others.
Copyright infringement is also applicable in this type of course. It is illegal
to copy any images, sound files, text, video, etc. off of another's web page without their
permission. You are expected to get written permission before using anything from
another's web page unless permission is granted on the page. |
