The Freshman Curriculum
There is a common first year curriculum for freshman engineering at IUPUI consisting of a solid core of basic courses in the physical and mathematical sciences. Students are admitted either to the Department of Mechanical Engineering or the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering when the freshman curriculum has been completed.
Engineering Majors: The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI offers ABET-accredited degrees in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Computer engineering is now available through the Department of Electrical and Computer engineering. Interdisciplinary degrees leading to a bachelors of science in engineering (BSE) are available in engineering management and biomedical engineering. Other interdisciplinary programs can be designed for interested students. Students should contact an advisor in Freshman Engineering if they are interested in this option.
Honors Program: Well-qualified students can participate in the IUPUI honors program in engineering. The honors program provides students with an opportunity to work with engineering faculty members either individually or in small groups on specially designed honors projects.
