Freshman Engineering

Engineering at IUPUI offers students a unique combination of opportunities not available at other institutions in the state of Indiana. These include:

  • A Purdue University engineering degree earned at IUPUI that is recognized around the world;
  • Small classes taught by professors and faculty.
  • Many scholarship possibilities including the Women in Engineering and Technology scholarships, the Schumacher Scholarships for students interested in mechanical engineering who are graduates of a Marion County public high school, and School of Engineering and Technology general scholarships;
  • Overall lower costs – numerous IUPUI students commute from homes in Marion and other nearby Indiana counties, further reducing expenses;
  • Classes offered day and evening making it convenient both for students who work and those who don’t.
The Office of Freshman Engineering at IUPUI gives individualized attention to new students in engineering while they complete the basic core of courses common to all engineering disciplines. All persons interested in pursuing a degree in engineering including traditional students, transfer students, those pursuing a second degree in engineering, and those returning to school after time in the military or on the job receive academic counseling and advising from full-time staff who are available year round.
