The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering offers a program leading to a Master of Science in Electrical& Computer Engineering from Purdue University.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers three graduate degree programs as follows:
Graduate study in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is an exciting way to expand your technical knowledge, gain new skills in research, and advance your career. The ECE Graduate Program boasts outstanding faculty who are actively involved in cutting-edge research. Many research projects are interdisciplinary areas, involving collaboration with schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Information, and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The department's research laboratories are well equipped and available to its students for their advanced projects and thesis research. These laboratories are supported by a wide range of research grants from government agencies, industry, and private foundations.

| Funding Opportunities |
Teaching/Research Assistantships
Students who intend to work full-time toward the M.S and who supply application materials by March 1 may be considered for graduate assistantships.

For Fall semester (deadlines are firm):
January 2: Priority considerations for University Fellowships and Assistantships
March 1 for assistantship consideration

Spring applicants are normally not considered for financial support; due to schedule of course for more information before applying for spring admission.
For Summer semester (deadlines are firm):
*April 1* (see * note below)
Summer applicants are not considered for financial support; due to schedule of course offerings, it is not always feasible to begin the program in the summer semester (with the exception of math education).
The Graduate Admissions Committee will not review applications until the application fee and all required materials are completed and received by the deadlines indicated.
*NOTE: If you cannot provide all application materials by the above dates, we encourage you to apply to the Graduate Non-Degree program through the IUPUI Graduate School Office. This program will allow you to take courses towards your intended degree program, and you may transfer up to 12 credit hours into the M.S. program, subject to graduate committee approval. *
Applicants are required to submit the following for admission consideration:

a. Official TOEFL score report not more than two years old with the following minimum scores: ( IUPUI's school code for the TOEFL is 1325)
- 570 on paper-based test, or
- 230 on computer based test, or
- 79 on internet-based test, with the following minimum sub-scores:
- Writing 18
- Speaking 18
- Listening 14
- Reading 19
b. Official IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 6.5.
c. Official PTE (Pearson Test of English) score of at least 58.
d. Successful completion of a post-secondary degree at a college or university in a native-English speaking country within two years of the anticipated enrollment semester.
Note: If you are a native speaker of English, you are not required to demonstrate English proficiency. Non-native speakers of English who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are required to submit English proficiency using the options above.Official general GRE test scores are required for all ECE Master's Applicants.
NOTE: IUPUI ECE BS/MS (5 year program) students are NOT required to take the GRE test.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. program application process:
To apply for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering to study at the IUPUI campus, follow the specific steps and instructions provided below. (IUPUI does not offer the Direct Ph.D. program. Admission to the Direct Ph.D. program is offered only at the Purdue University, West Lafayette campus. Applicants wishing to apply for admission to the Ph.D. ECE program at IUPUI must be currently earning or have earned a Master's degree.)
Step 1:
Go to this Purdue University Electrical and Computer Engineering website to read the instructions and begin the application process:

You must complete the Purdue University online application and you must select West Lafayette campus to proceed with the application.
Step 2:
In the Statement of Purpose state clearly that you wish to be admitted to the Ph.D. program to study at the IUPUI (Indianapolis) campus. You should also specify in the Statement the research area/s you are interested in and the IUPUI professor/s you wish to study with.
Step 3:
In the supplemental ECE Web Application form where it asks for "Campus Preference", state IUPUI as your campus preference.
Step 4:
Submit all required application materials, including transcripts and official GRE//TOEFL scores to the ECE Graduate Office at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. To inquire about your application and supporting application materials send e-mail directly to the Admissions Representative in the ECE Graduate Office at Purdue University, West Lafayette: ecegrad@purdue.edu.
Step 5:
Notify the Coordinator of Graduate Engineering and Technology Programs at IUPUI by e-mail ecegrad@iupui.edu after you have submitted the Purdue University online application and have sent all required application materials to the ECE Graduate Office at Purdue University, West Lafayette.
Note: Do NOT complete and submit the IUPUI Online Graduate Admissions application. You will be notified and provided with instructions to do so later by the Coordinator of Graduate Engineering and Technology Programs at IUPUI after your application dossier at the ECE Graduate Office at Purdue University is fully complete and your application meets the minimum criteria for admission to be considered.
