Funding Opportunities for Teaching and Instrumentation
The following document has been developed by the Education Development Center within the Purdue
School of Engineering and Technology to serve as a catalog of grant programs that support teaching and
instrumentation. A summary of each program is included, as well as an indication of the award size and
duration, any set deadlines, procedures for proposal or application submission, and a contact for further
information. The Center, which is interested in working with faculty and departments in the identification of
funding opportunities, has compiled brief descriptions of programs in order to assist in the grant-seeking
process and allow more advance notice of deadlines. By outlining all available opportunities, more time can
then be used for the preparation of the proposal or application. The summaries included are not intended to
supply all necessary information concerning the programs, but should serve as guides to more detailed
documents created by the individual grant foundations or organizations.
The available grant programs have been placed in one or more of fifteen categories, ranging in focus from
institutional restructuring to faculty enhancement, retention, minority opportunities, and fellowships. The
table of contents lists all programs in each section, and programs that satisfy more than one goal are listed
under each corresponding heading. Many organizations have now made application forms and procedures
available electronically here the appropriate website and any other helpful links are supplied. Because
deadlines are subject to change and new programs are often created, this document will be updated
frequently.
