Education Development Center
A committed faculty is an essential part of any program within the Purdue School of
Engineering and Technology, IUPUI. The school's faculty, always at the center of the
education process, creates the learning environment of engineering and technology students
and thus influences the overall rates of enrollment and retention. The success of a
department, a school, and most importantly a student, rests on the enthusiasm and
dedication of individual faculty members and the existence of up-to-date facilities
and curricula. Today's faculty member must function in a classroom that is constantly
changing--one must adapt to new teaching methodologies, technological advances, and the
increased diversity of the student body. In order to help faculty members adapt to this
changing environment, and in order to strengthen IUPUI's engineering and technology
education, a facility is needed that will provide the fundamental resources for faculty
development. The purpose of The Education Development Center, then, is to become that
facility. In cooperation with the existing Center for Teaching and Learning, which is
within The Office of Faculty Development, The Education Development Center will contribute
teaching-related resources, as well as assist both faculty and students in identifying
funding opportunities.
