Course Description:
This course will provide a working knowledge of land development. Items will be covered in the sequence of land development: initial land evaluation; obtaining financing, land development entity formation; site design and layout; covenants, conditions and restrictions; obtaining zoning, easements and other governmental approvals; development of cost estimation plans; construction and inspections; and bonding. This is not a land development cost estimation course, but such concepts will be integrated into the course material as appropriate. Students will be involved in projects to be presented in class simulating a real developer’s activities in the various stages listed above. Since this is an introductory real estate course, the projects will be done in the context of developing a custom residential subdivision. Concepts covered in this course will provide a foundation of land development.

Course Description:
Prerequisite: Engineering, technology or science background required. Students will learn basic energy concepts: present-day fuel use; sustainability problems; fundamental principles and applications of the various renewable energy, including solar energy, nuclear power, biomass energy, geothermal energy, hydropower, wind turbines, hydrogen and fuel cells. This course will provides hands-on experience related to fuel cell and solar cell technology. Project-based learning approaches will be used to teach this course. Graduates will be able to fulfill a wide range of career opportunities in renewable energy system design and planning, energy management and efficiency consulting, greenhouse gases accounting and reduction, renewable energy research and development.
