Master of Science in Technology
The primary goal of the Technology Graduate program is to develop advanced level practitioners in industry. The program provides opportunities to obtain advanced training and credentials necessary for advancement in positions in industry and thus is designed for any professional who is interested in updating their knowledge through advanced coursework in technical topics or who is interested in pursuing a managerial position. Successful graduates of the program earn a Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology awarded by Purdue University . The M.S. in Technology curriculum incorporates a core set of courses, but is essentially multidisciplinary in approach.
Opportunities for Part-time Study
The program provides opportunities for practitioners in local industry to work on an advanced degree on a part-time basis. Many of the graduate courses are offered in the evening for the convenience of working professionals. The program also welcomes the participation of practitioners whose experience in industry can contribute to the learning process.
Area of Concentration
The program will initially focus on a concentration in Applied Information Technology. As the program develops, a more interdisciplinary plan of study will be available, drawing from the various departments in the School including Computer Information Technology, Construction Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Organizational Leadership and Supervision.
Program Requirements
The M.S. in Technology program is designed so that graduates holding a B.S. degree in a technology discipline or a related area can complete their degree either as a full time student or as a part time student working full time. The program could typically be completed in 4 semesters (2 academic years) and must be completed within five years.
The curriculum consists of a total of 33 credit hours as follows:
