Although companies are avidly recruiting interns and co-ops, landing an opportunity is not guaranteed. Students pursuing an internship or co-op must put forth effort to locate and eventually secure a position. There are many resources available for E&T students pursuing opportunities in their field of study. However these resources are only what you make of them, so be certain to take advantage everything available to you. The primary resource is the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology's Office of Career Services and Professional Development. Among other services, the office offers career planning, resume development, interview preparation, and internship/co-op/ career search assistance. Through E&T Careers , the school's comprehensive job search engine, students can upload and submit resumes to prospective internship and co-op employers. In conjunction with this system, the school holds the annual ET Career Connection. The Career Connection is a job fair specifically designed for Engineering and Technology students and alumni. At this event, engineering and technology employers recruit for internship, co-op, and career opportunities. Another option available to our students is the Center for Career Opportunities at Purdue University , West Lafayette . The CCO has a separate job search engine known as the CCO Express. E&T students interested in registering for the CCO Express must complete the following form . Once you have accepted a position with an employer make certain to give us a call at (317) 278-1000 . If you are in need of a technical elective, our office will be more than happy to assist you in registering for the appropriate internship or co-op course at that time. |
