Meet the Google Ambassador!  Undergraduate Alex Cory is the 2013-2014 Google student ambassador for IUPUI.  Alex’s role is to help students and faculty discover how Google tools can improve collaboration, increase performance, and move classrooms into the 21st century.

The student ambassador program offers undergraduates the opportunity to visit the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA where they receive tools and training that allow them to represent Google on college campuses worldwide.  Alex spent five days in California where he worked with Googlers who were able to demonstrate the application of Google tools in a higher education setting.

"It was an amazing opportunity and was a great look at how Google is reaching out to specific groups," said Alex.  "I’m definitely looking forward to presenting some of the information I received – and Google has a few announcements coming out soon that will really target places like IUPUI."

Alex was recommended for the ambassador program by Rob Elliott, Lecturer of Computer and Information Technology.  "When the application process was announced, I knew it would be a perfect job for Alex," said Mr. Elliott.  "He is one of the most wired students I have ever seen, and I knew he would understand the applications for the tools that Google has to offer.  I’m excited for him, and proud that he was able to represent IUPUI and the School of Engineering and Technology."

Alex is available for consultation with student and faculty groups who would like to understand how Google tools, including Hangouts, Google+, and Google Drive can drive change at IUPUI.   He will present at a number of symposia and events through the Fall semester.  He can be reached at alecory@iupui.edu.

Google offers the Student Ambassador Program each summer.  For information about the program, or how to nominate a student, please visit the Google in Education website.
