Spring break 2014 marked the 2nd year that students at IUPUI studying Motorsports and/or Mechanical Engineering had the opportunity to go to Germany for a week for Motorsports Germany.
This week long study abroad trip is a fast and furious look at the automotive and racing industry in Germany.  Students plan their own transportation to and from Germany, but they all stay in the same hotels.
The week begins in Heilbronn Germany with a traditional German dinner on Saturday night.  Sunday is all German culture!  Students travel by train and bus to reach the castle in Heidelberg, enjoy lunch, and shopping.
While based in Heilbronn, students visited the famed Hockenheimring Formula 1 race track, Porsche and Mercedes museums in Stuttgart, manufacturing facilities for Porsche and Audi, and Audi Quattro where fabulous engineers turn the Audi R8 into race cars for various racing series.

The trip concluded with two days in Cologne Germany which is a sister city to Indianapolis.  The two days included a historic tour of Cologne provided by the Vice President of Cologne Sister City Committee and a traditional German dinner, a visit to the Cologne University of Applied Science's Formula Student team and their professional race car team, shopping at the Chocolate Factory, and beautiful Cologne (Dom) Cathedral.

In addition to the automotive and racing industry visits, students learned about German culture first-hand and how the country was devastated and rebuilt after the war.  Amazing trip for everyone.
