The School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis was awarded the Best Student Presentation Award at the the 43th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC) in Portland Oregon on June 5th for the paper titled Design of a Highly Efficient Microinverter.

Authors for the paper include:
• Omar Nezamuddin, Electrical and Computering Engineering PhD student
• Jonah Crespo, Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student
• Dr. Euzeli dos Santos, Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty

Nezamuddin is the first author of the paper, and Crespo attended the conference in Portland to present. The paper, Design of a Highly Efficient Microinverter, proposed a device (microinverter) that connects a photovoltaic solar panel to the utility grid in a high efficient manner. The proposed microinverter presents a high quality AC voltage generated at its output while keeps the same number of semiconductor devices of a conventional circuitry.
