Perez Agaba, alumni of IUPUI’s School of Engineering and Technology and current Duke University medical student, was recently honored with the 2016 Anthony V. Seaber Student Fellowship Award for his research presentation, “Risk Factor Combinations for Stiffness After Total Knee Arthroplasty.”

He received the prestigious award during the Southern Orthopaedic Association’s Annual Meeting and Exhibit in Naples, FL. Medical students use the award to travel and present their research at orthopaedic meetings across America.

Agaba earned an academic and Division 1 soccer scholarship at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI and graduated in the spring of 2012 majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in mathematics. He was named the 2012 Chancellor’s Scholar as well as the SUMMIT League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2012. His academic career has one of the most honored in IUPUI history; he is a two-time Academic All- American and was a first-team Lowe’s Senior CLASS All-American. On the soccer field, he was a second-team All- Summit League standout as a senior. Following graduation, he worked as a software automation engineer helping in the design and verification of insulin pumps and meters at Clarke Engineering Services/Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis before eventually matriculating at Duke University School of Medicine in 2013.
