Summary of Changes in ME Curriculum

Effective Fall 2007

This curriculum is an interim one which is very similar to its Fall 2003 version. It has the same number of credit hours (130) as the older vesion. The main changes are in the realignment of the prerequisites and corequisites in some courses as depicted on the program map as well as rearranging of the computer programming course, ENGR 197, in the freshmen year. ENGR 197 is now a two credit hour course instead of three and devoted to C programming only. There is a new one credit hour course, ENGR 297, which is devoted to MATLAB programming only. Zero credit hour recitation hours have been instituted in selected ME courses: ME 200, 262, 270, 272, 274, and 372 to allow more time for applications and problem solving in these courses. The department is in the process of further modifying the curriculum based on the results of the program assessment studies made since 2003 in the department.
