Education and Background

Dr. Nema is a senior CAE/Finite Element Analyst and Chairman of CAE-net. He has been with CAE-net since January 2002, where has also been conducting research on Immersive Stereo Visualization Systems. He has developed two Visualization Systems: Reality View ™ and John-E-Box ™.

Dr. Nema received his Ph.D. (1983) and M.S. (1980) degrees in structural mechanics from the school of Civil Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. His technical specialties are in simulation, visualization, and application of computer graphics in computer aided engineering (CAE), design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA). His business expertise is to package and close large, complex, technical and strategic programs.

After graduating from Purdue University, Nema was a principal engineer in the nuclear power industry with Sargent & Lundy and Impell Corporations in Chicago and San Francisco. He wrote a large computer program in C and FORTRAN languages for non-linear structural analysis for piping systems.

Dr. Nema was the founder of Modern Computer Aided Engineering (MCAE), Inc., an engineering software and services company supplying the automotive, aerospace and general manufacturing industries. He served as President, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Research and Development for 12 years. At MCAE, he completed a large product development project using simulation-based design which resulted in an energy absorbent instrument panel and seats for a popular Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Dr. Nema has extensive engineering consulting services experience in automotive, aerospace, electronics, computers and general manufacturing industries in the fields of solid mechanics, electronics packaging, structural design and analysis, finite element theory and application, design optimization, computer aided engineering (CAE), computer aided design (CAD), geometric modeling, computer graphics, and large scale software system design.

In 1999, Dr. Nema joined Silicon Graphics (SGI) to be the manufacturing industry principal for SGI professional services. He was principal for numerous large projects in Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Emerging Technologies, Media, LINUX Clusters (HPC), Storage Area Network (SAN), Digital Asset Management, Immersive Visualization, and Design Automation Infrastructure. Nema architected the Global University while participating in a distance learning project at a state university in Ohio. While at SGI, Dr. Nema built a consortium of educational institutions and global manufacturing companies for media and visualization rich content for distance training, learning and education.
