Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers graduate programs of study leading to the degrees of Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.), Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.M.E.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Also offered are combined B.S.M.S. degrees with either a B.S. in Physics or Mechanical Engineering.

Research

The Mechanical Engineering Department has outstanding faculty with expertise and research interests in the areas of advanced manufacturing, computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), robotics, controls, solid and structural mechanics, stress analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), composites, elasticity, fracture mechanics, aeropropulsion, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combustion, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, molecular dynamics, multi-scale modeling, and biomechanics.
