Mission:

The Advanced Materials Laboratory, part of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), is developing new materials on the edge of science and characterizing the behavior of existing adaptive materials.

Currently the Advanced Materials Lab is focused on self-healing polymers (a plastic that repairs damage) and the degradation of rubbers as well as advanced methods of Experimental Mechanics. 

The lab is involved in fundamental as well as applied research in the areas of material degradation and self-repair as well as developing new experimental capabilities.
