Faculty/Staff Awards of 2003/2004 Academic Year

Dr. Hasan U. Akay was elected a Fellow of ASME , which is the highest membership grade at ASME. This award is given to members with high achievement in academia, research, and engineering design and development.

Dr. Razi Nalim was presented the Frank E. Burley Distinguished Professor Award . This award recognizes outstanding service by any full-time faculty member. Criteria includes evidence of service to students, colleagues, school, university and community through committee participation; evidence of service to professional organizations beyond membership; service to students through participation as a mentor, sponsor, and organizer of student organizations and projects; and other criteria as described on the full announcement.

Dr. Hiroki Yokota was the recipient of the Abraham M. Max Distinguished Professor Award . This award recognizes outstanding research by any full-time faculty member. Criteria includes, but is not limited to, funded research grants, both internal and external; published articles and books detailing research results or course program development; program development, particularly in new technological directions.

Dr. Jie Chen received U.S. Patent for Method and Apparatus for Fast Voxelization of Volumetric Models . U.S. Patent # 6,556,199

Phyllis Koch received the Staff Spirit Award . This award recognizes a staff member, who through extraordinary service as well as professional, team, or volunteer contributions, exemplifies the spirit of IUPUI and the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI.
