Undergraduate Studies at IUPUITo learn more about the Mechanical Engineering field in general follow more information about ME . The programs in the Mechanical Engineering department are designed to prepare students for a long and productive career. They start with a strong foundation in the engineering sciences and include project-based laboratory and design activities in an environment that fosters independence, creativity, leadership and the capability for continuing growth. Classes in Mechanical Engineering are relatively small. All classes are taught by the faculty (not teaching assistants) and students get to know their faculty and fellow students rather easily. While academic achievement is the focus of our program, our students are well rounded and have the ability to participate in many campus activities. Each year our students are recognized as among the top scholars on campus. Freshman are admitted to the Freshman Engineering program. In this program, the students are exposed to the different engineering disciplines and can make an informed choice of which engineering program best suits their interests at the beginning of their sophomore year.
