MEML
What is the MEML? MEML stands for Mobile Electronics Manufacturing Line. The MEML is a teaching aid that can help introduce K through 12th grade students to the possibilities that lay ahead for them in the field of electronics manufacturing. The MEML is a scaled-down, fully functional version of an electronics manufacturing facility housed in a 36 foot trailer. The laboratory is built to give students hands-on experience in operating equipment comparable to that found in a high-tech electronics assembly operation. Each step of the electronics manufacturing process is demonstrated in the MEML line. Why should you be interested in the MEML? The MEML gives students a hands-on introduction to electronics manufacturing. The demand for qualified people in electronics manufacturing is tremendous, and students from all backgrounds can enter this field. Past deployments were able to target at-risk students to demonstrate they could have a future career in this area if they stay in school. top How do I get more information? E-mail Ken Reid: kreid1@iupui.edu. To schedule a deployment, please completely fill out and submit a reservation form. MEML Point of Contacts: Ken Reid - Phone Number: (317) 274-2362> top How much does a MEML deployment cost? The cost of a MEML deployment depends on the amount of involvement for the students. Deployments may be sponsored via the IEEE Foundation. Contact us for more information. What is involved in a deployment? The deployment covers transportation to your school, staffing by trained engineers, educational materials to be presented, and all materials needed for the electronic circuit boards which will be produced by the staff or students.
