The MUST Program supports the best and the brightest students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines during the early years of their college education while enriching their learning with the MUST Professional Academic Support System (MUST PASS), an academic enrichment, mentoring and career development system. Scholars participate in exciting research opportunities at NASA Centers that will help broaden their career horizons. Students from underrepresented groups in STEM are encouraged to apply.

The program components are the following:

• One-year partial tuition scholarship of up to one-half of a student's tuition and fees, not to exceed $10,000 per academic year . The scholarship is renewable until a student's senior year provided that the student continues to meet all of the eligibility criteria, comply with all program requirements, and submit a renewal application every year which will also require an official transcript and a letter of recommendation.

• MUST PASS (Professional and Academic Support System). MUST PASS is academic enrichment, mentoring, and career development system that offers resources and access to scientific mentors, tutors, graduate students, and professionals during the school year. Scholars receive a dedicated point of contact to obtain additional academic support and tutoring services when needed.

• A maximum stipend of $5,000 to participate in a mandatory summer research experience at a NASA Center . Scholars are considered for an internship at one of ten NASA centers. Selection for a NASA summer research experience is based on a student's career profile and depends on internship availability.

• Students have the opportunity to join a professional association with any of the MUST Consortium organizations which are the Hispanic College Fund, the United Negro College Fund Special Programs and The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. They will also be invited to participate in educational enrichment opportunities including competitions, conferences, graduate school preparation, and professional development.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen. U. S. citizens from underrepresented groups (Women, African American, Hispanic American, Native American, and persons with disabilities) are encouraged to apply.
• Must reside in the U.S. or Territories of the U.S.
• Must be studying and hold full-time academic status at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for the 2008-2009 academic year
• Be a rising college freshman, sophomore or junior during the time of application who plans to attend or enroll in an accredited U.S. higher education institution as a full-time student for the 2008 - 2009 academic year
• Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (un-weighted)
• Must be pursuing a degree in a physical science, technology, engineering or mathematics

Hoosier Connection Scholarship in Engineering and Technology
$1,000 - $6,000, Renewable
Priority Date for fall semester May 1 and for spring semester October 1, admission and application

The School of Engineering and Technology offers scholarships to foreign students that are admitted to an academic department within the School of Engineering and Technology.

Monument Star Chapter of ABWA Scholarship for Women
Due Date: March 30 
The Monument Star Chapter of the American Business Women's Association is funding a $2000 scholarship through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund (SBMEF).  The field of study is not specified, but candidates must be women who are citizens of  the U.S.; residents of Hancock, Shelby, Morgan, Marion, Hendricks, Boone, Hamilton, or Johnson County, Indiana; will be college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students in August 2007; are attending or have been accepted at an accredited college or university authorized to confer degrees at least at the baccalaureate level or higher and have achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.  For an application, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to MONUMENT STAR CHAPTER, c/o Susan Stout, 915 Texarkana Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46231.  Completed applications are due at ABWA National Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., and recipients will be notified in May.

Scholarships from the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter DAR
Due Date: March 1 
Annual scholarships are awarded by the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter
of the Daughters of the American Revolution to college and university students.
The following list contains general information and criteria for application:

• Any student may apply who will attain junior or senior status the next school year.
• Must have minimum 2.0 grade point average. The grade point average for NSDAR Scholarships is 2.75
• All applicants must be citizens of the United States.
• Scholarships are available regardless of sex, race, religion or heritage
• Must be a permanent resident of Marion County, Indiana
• Student must attend an accredited undergraduate college or university in Indiana.
• Scholarship award up to $2000
• Scholarship funds are available in August preceding the Fall Semester

Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the largest Hispanic scholarship-granting organization in the nation. HSF provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanic students in higher education throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The students represent every region of the country, and attend hundreds of institutions of higher education throughout America. Founded in 1975, HSF has awarded more than 45,000 scholarships totaling nearly $60 million.

Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA)
Founded in 1973, the Organization of Chinese Americans, Inc. (OCA) is a national non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization of concerned Chinese Americans. OCA is dedicated to securing the rights of Chinese American and Asian American citizens and permanent residents through legislative and policy initiatives at all levels of the government. OCA aims to embrace the hopes and aspirations of the nearly 2 million citizens and residents of Chinese ancestry in the United States as well as to better the lives of the 10 million Asian Americans across the country.

The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC)
The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC), a non-profit organization, was established in 1969. Founders Robert L. Bennett (Wisconsin Oneida) and John C. Rainer (Taos Pueblo) created a program to assist American Indian college graduates to continue their education at the masters, doctorate and professional degree level. AIGC was founded to help open doors to graduate education for American Indians and to help tribes obtain the educated Indian professionals they need to become more self-sufficient and to exercise their rights to self-determination.

United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
UNCF is a fund-raising consortium of 39 private, fully accredited, four-year, historically black colleges and universities. As an educational assistance organization, The College Fund provides operating assistance to its 39 member colleges and universities, administers over 400 scholarship programs for African American students, provides technical assistance for HBCUs, and conducts research and data collection on African American education. In its 55 year history, UNCF has raised over $1.4 billion to promote higher education achievement in the African American community and has helped to graduate over 300,000 African Americans from undergraduate and graduate programs.

Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholarship Program
Due Date: April 26 

This is a federally-supported merit-based scholarship program which awards scholarships to selected Hoosier students. Funds for this program are very limited.
To be eligible an applicant must:

• Achieve a minimum Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score of 1300 (combine score of verbal and math only) from one single test or a 29 composite score on the ACT, or earn an average standard score of 620 or higher on the GED
• Be an Indiana resident
• Be a senior in high school or receiving a GED in the year you are applying for the scholarship
• Apply and/or enroll at an institution of higher education
• Not have defaulted on a debt to the federal government or sentenced for a drug offense

Scholars must attend a postsecondary institution on a full-time basis the first year to receive a scholarship. The maximum annual scholarship is $1500.00 (but depends on the amount of federal funds allocated to Indiana). The scholarship is renewable if the scholars maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the scholar's college/university. Scholarships may be used to attend any approved institutions in the United States. Scholarships for this federally-funded program are very limited.

Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology

Open to all U.S. citizens, who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline at a college or university that is accredited in the United States are eligible for the MUST funding opportunity.  Students of all underrepresented groups (Women, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and persons with disabilities) are encouraged to apply.
