| What
is a battlebot?
A battlebot is a robot designed to survive a game of destruction
in
which two robots are pitted one-on-one for a fight to the
death!
Battlebots® is a specific competition currently hosted
by
ComedyCentral® that has been running for five seasons,
and in
which our group took part last spring (read more...).
What
are your current plans?
This coming semester, we intend to add a pneumatic flipper
system
to Paydar and begin construction on a second robot (a
spin bot) to
improve our chances in the next Battlebots competition. In
the
meantime, we're adding a mounting system for Targetbot's new
motors, and fixing him up for competition this spring.
When
will you have your next fight?
Believe it or not, it looks like Targetbot will see his day
in competition
come February at what (for now) must be described as an undisclosed
location! Once summer arrives, we also plan on taking Paydar,
and
hopefully "spin bot", to Battlebots Season 6.0.
Aside from that, though, we're pretty much always up for a
good bout.
After all, why else would a team like ours put in so much
time and effort!
When
and where does the team meet?
We usually meet about every other week, depending on what
projects
we've got going on. Our meetings are held on Saturdays in
the race
car lab (ET 126) and start at 11:00 A.M.
What
does it take to become a member?
Nothing really! Are you a student at IUPUI and interested? Be sure
to check out signup
page.
How
do I find out about sponsoring your team?
Please drop an e-mail to Mark
Jennings, our Promotions Manager. He'll
be happy to answer your questions and assist with further details. |
