Welcome to the TASI website.
TASI's mission is to advance the use of active safety systems to reduce vehicle crashes and save lives.
The Transportation Active Safety Institute (TASI) was founded in February, 2006, and officially recognized as an IUPUI campus-wide center in January, 2007. TASI was one of 10 centers awarded IUPUI Signature Center funding in January, 2008, and one of 3 of those centers to be designated an IUPUI Signature Center in June 2011. IUPUI Signature Center designation recognizes that the center has reached prominence for its unique and distinctive research and scholarly activity. Only 8 centers have been awarded Signature Center designation to date.
With core faculty drawn from 9 departments and numerous programs from 11 schools, the Transportation Active Safety Institute (TASI) is a university-wide interdisciplinary center for advanced automotive-safety research and development on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis.
Partnership with industry, government, and non-profit agencies will ensure that university research activities complement existing technologies and address existing and future needs. TASI has built a strong interdisciplinary team, which will allow it to achieve greater efficiency and visibility.
TASI aims to provide a neutral forum for pre-competitive discussion and development of standards and test methodologies for establishing objective benefits of active-safety systems.
