Change the "Wye" to a "delta", then combine the resistors in parallel:
(Depending on which you labeled R1, R2, R3 and Ra, Rb, Rc, the new values will be...)
Ra = 7.5 kohm; Rb = 15 kohm; Rc = 15 kohm
and I = 2.143A

Chapter 9:

  • I12 ohm R = 5/6 A
  • I6 ohm R = 0 A
  • I6 ohm R and 5 V source = 5/6 A
    b) P1 = 5.333W
    P2 = 0.333W
    c) P total = 8.333 W
    d) Answer the question.. are the 2 values for power the same?
