- Use the xdef directive to define a symbol visible outside the current module.
- Use the xref directive to indicate that a referenced symbol is defined outside the current module.
The linker will put symbols defined using xdef into its symbol table. It will provide values for all symbols referenced using xref from those stored in the symbol table. If a symbol referenced with an xref cannot be found in the symbol table, the linker indicates that the symbol is undefined and the link will fail.
