Designing memory address decoding circuits
Define a memory map.
Write the starting address and the ending address of each memory chip in binary.
Separate the address lines into two groups.
- One group is to be used by the memory chip directly.
- The other group is to be used by the memory decoding circuit.
Design the circuit for address decoding.
The process for designing the memory address decoding circuit is systematic. It can be applied to all microprocessor based systems. We will describe these steps in detail next.
