Parallel data transfer uses several data pins simultaneously. Since the number of hardware pins used affects the cost of the system and hardware pins are valuable system resources, parallel data transfer between two embedded devices is not often used. Parallel data transfer between two systems can be synchronous using a common clock, or asynchronous using handshaking techniques.
Circuits for parallel data transfer are similar to those circuits described for sensory input and control output. There are not many variations of parallel data transfer formats.
