1.
Wash and cut the ends of the
beans. 2.
Cut it length wise into small round
pieces. 3.
Finely cut the onion. 4.
Boil the toor dhal in the pressure
cooker for 1 whistle.Make sure it doesn’t get mashed up.Otherwise boil it
separately in a saucepan for 10 minutes or in the microwave. 5.
Boil the cut beans in water with a
pinch of turmeric powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt. 6.
Don’t add too much water for boiling
otherwise the nutrients get washed away in the water itself. 7.
Once the beans is quiet soft(about
8-10 minutes),pour it into a strainer and strain well. 8.
Heat 3 teaspoons of oil in a tawa. 9.
Add the mustard seeds,urad dhal,red
chillies and green curry leaves in that order and allow them to splutter. 10. Add the onions and sauté well. 11. Now add the beans pieces and salt and mix gently. 12. After 2 minutes add the dhal and turn over. 13. Transfer to a serving dish. |
Tips
|
|
·
Make sure while boiling the pieces
they don’t get too soft otherwise they get mashed up while frying. ·
The same dish can be done with
cabbage,spinach,collard,kale. ·
For the above greens they can be added
directly to the tawa without boiling since they get cooked fast. ·
The colour of beans shouldn’t change. ·
Instead of dhal coconut can be added. ·
This item goes well with Pulikulambu
and sambhar. ·
It is very good for kids. |
