1.
Take 1 cup of whole cow
peas(thattaipayir) and fry it in a tawa for a few minutes without adding any
oil in a low flame.After 5 minutes it will give good flavor. 2.
Off the stove and transfer the
contents to a vessel.Pour 1 ½ cup of water and boil it in the pressure cooker
with ¼ teaspoon of salt. It can
be kept for 4 whistles. 3.
Soak the tamarind in water.After a few
minutes make it into a paste and strain it.Dilute it by adding 1 cup of
water. 4.
Cut the onion and tomato into small
pieces. 5.
Heat 3 spoons of oil in a sauce pan. 6.
Now add the cummin seeds,methi seeds
and curry leaves in that order. 7.
Allow it to splutter.The cummin will
give a good flavor. 8.
Now fry the onions and tomatoes. 9.
When it gets soft add the strained
tamarind juice to it. 10. Add salt and stir well wth a spatula. 11. Put 1 spoon of chilly powder and ½ spoon of dhania powder.Allow
it to boil. 12. When it gets quiet thick and add the thattapayir. 13. Allow the mixture to boil and add crushed garlic in the end. 14. Transfer the contents to a serving dish. |
Tips

Make sure the thattaipayir doesn’t not
get too soft while boiling.Otherwise it will get mashed up. ·
Cummin can be altered with fennel
seeds(sombu). ·
Salt and chilly powder can be altered
according to taste. ·
