(Note: We will use as our example the file academic symbols.wmf from the Exploring Access folder)

Left click once on the folder that has the file you want |
|
|
Point but do not click on the file you want. (A “hand” indicating a link will appear when you point to the file.) |
|
|
Right click on the mouse over the file you pointed to |
|
|
When the menu pops us, choose Save Target As… |
|
|
The File Download window will appear briefly on the screen. When the Save As dialog box appears, select a storage device from the drop down list in the Save in: list box. |

Click on the Save button. The file will copy to your storage device. You will see a Download Complete information box indicating the file has made it to your storage device. |
Zipped or compressed files contain multiple files in one file so they transfer quickly over the Internet or don't take up as much disk drive storage space. Unzip compressed files to gain access to all the files.
(Note: We will use as our example the file Zipped version of Access files)

Point to the compressed file you want to download. |
|

Point but do not click on the file you want. (A “hand” indicating a link will appear when you point to the file.) |

Right click on the mouse over the file you pointed to. |
|
|

Double click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop |

|
Double click on the 3 ½ Floppy (A:) icon. Your compressed file should appear. (Note: it will have an .exe file extension) |

Double click on the file ending in .exe to unzip it. |
|
|
The WinZip Self-Extractor window will appear |
|
|
Browse for or type in the storage device you want to use. Pay attention to the size of the unzipped files when you pick your storage device. |

Left click once on the Unzip button. You will see the files unzip in a “marquee” across the bottom of the WinZip Self-Extractor window. Another window will appear telling you how many files you successfully unzipped. Click on OK in this window. |

Click on Close to end WinZip Self-Extractor |
